$450 was raised at the screening of the documentary A SMALL ACT at the Capitol Cinema on May 5 at 8.15pm.
The money goes to support the Hilde Back Foundation which gives scholarships to Kenyan students to go to Secondary School.
This was a fundraising event for the Kenbe La Foundation (‘Never Give Up’ in Haitian Creole). This foundation was established by New Zealander Emily Sanson-Rejouis, who lost her husband Emmanuel, and two daughters in the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010. It honours the passion and dreams Emmanuel had to help disadvantaged children of his native Haiti – to provide educational opportunities to help them realize their potential.
